Our Commitment to Diversity

A Message from Abby M. Rincón
Director of Diversity
At the School of Public Health, we are proud to be part of the UC Berkeley campus community, especially at this time, when values of diversity have been prioritized at an all-time high. The School actively engages in achieving its mission of diversity at all levels, with the support and encouragement of the greater campus and UC system. Our diverse students are our greatest asset, bringing forth their ideas, agendas, passions, and commitments in making a positive difference in our diverse and global communities.
As a member of the UC Berkeley campus, you will have multiple opportunities to get involved, to develop strong critical thinking skills, to engage in problem solving with top faculty and researchers, public health professionals and with the world's brightest students. You will become part of the solution ready to tackle the most pressing public health issues of our times.
UC Berkeley's School of Public Health offers many opportunities and resources focusing on Diversity, as well as working with the entire UC Berkeley campus to help make the important connections for our students.
Whether you are a future epidemiologist, health educator, or health policy analyst; whether you want to analyze HIV rates of Latinos in Oakland, develop broad-based community health promotion programs for African Americans, or help make health insurance programs accessible for the poor; the School of Public Health is here to help meet your educational needs.
Our emphasis on diversity, human rights, and social justice helps make UC Berkeley's School of Public Health one of the top 10 schools of public health in the country. We look forward to working with you as a student and as a future public health practitioner.
