Director of Diversity

Abby M. Rincón, the director of diversity for the School of Public Health, works with the faculty and deans to help reach the diversity goals of the student body, faculty, curriculum, School climate, and Schoolwide educational opportunities. She assists prospective students by:
- Providing one-on-one advising. Advising includes helping prospective students assess their academic preparation, information about internships, the various areas of concentration, and how to put together a strong application. In-person or phone meetings can be arranged by appointment.
- Conducting workshops at various undergraduate schools (University of California campuses, California State University campuses, community colleges, and private institutions) for interested students in classes, student clubs and organizations, or various scholar programs.
- Attending graduate school fairs across the country
- Serving as a friendly liaison to answer questions while going through the admissions process
- Working with the Student Services Office, which sponsors pre-application advising sessions, an annual public health conference for prospective students, and live chats. To find out more about these activities visit the Admissions section of our web site.
