CONCURRENT AND DUAL DEGREES

Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.)/Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) Concurrent Degree

The School of Public Health and the Goldman School of Public Policy offer a 3-year concurrent degree program. Applicants apply to the M.P.P./M.P.H. degree track in the School of Public Health and indicate one area of study. A supplementary questionnaire is required for the M.P.P./M.P.H. degree choice. Preference is given to applicants who have work experience in health policy and who demonstrate an understanding of public policy and policy analysis techniques. Graduates assume research and policy analysis positions in federal and state governmental agencies, consulting organizations, health advocacy groups, and health care associations. Continuing students should please contact their School of Public Health program assistant and new applicants should contact the School of Public Health program of their choice. The Goldman School contact is Jalilah LaBrie at jalilah@berkeley.edu.

mara larsen-fleming"I have spent the early part of my career working primarily in the field of adolescent health care, running a school-based health center at my high school alma mater, where I became interested in the connection between public health practice and public policy. I have felt that in terms of adolescent and reproductive health care, we are constantly reacting to policy and devising ways to provide the same care and resources with increased barriers. I returned to UC Berkeley for an M.P.P./M.P.H. in order to develop a mind for policy and expand my knowledge of the vast field of public health."
