Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.)
Master of Public Health (M.P.H.)
"It's a great place to really explore your ideas, even if you think you know exactly what you want to do when you come in."
The UC Berkeley School of Public Health and the Goldman School of Public Policy offer a 3-year concurrent degree program. Applicants apply to the M.P.P./M.P.H. degree track in the School of Public Health and indicate Health Policy & Management as their area of study. A supplementary questionnaire is required for the M.P.P./M.P.H. degree choice. Preference is given to applicants who have work experience in health policy and who demonstrate an understanding of public policy and policy analysis techniques. Graduates assume research and policy analysis positions in federal and state governmental agencies, consulting organizations, health advocacy groups, and health care associations.
At present concurrent degree curricula do not exist with other areas of study in Public Health. Students interested in pursuing the M.P.H. in something other than Health Policy & Management can consider adding the M.P.P. as a second degree after enrollment. The dual degree is not an articulated 3-year program.
Continuing students interested in a dual degree should please contact their School of Public Health program assistant. New applicants interested in the concurrent degree should contact Kim MacPherson in Health Policy & Management at kmacpherson@berkeley.edu. The Goldman School contact is Jalilah LaBrie at jalilah@berkeley.edu.
