Joint Internal Medicine-Preventive Medicine
(4-year) Program with the Kaiser Permanente
San Francisco Medical Center

The Preventive Medicine Residency also participates in a joint four-year internal medicine-preventive medicine residency program with the Kaiser Permanente, San Francisco Medical Center. In this program, residents enter at the PGY-1 level and complete PGY-1 and PGY-2 training at Kaiser before entering the School of Public Health in the PGY-3 year. Kaiser San Francisco pays residents at the PGY-3 salary level and pays tuition during the MPH year even though residents have few clinical responsibilities. The PGY-4 year combines both practicum year training in public health and preventive medicine and clinical rotations in internal medicine. Residents who complete the program become eligible for board certification in both specialties.

More details can be found here

Application is through the ERAS match. There are separate NRMP program numbers for the San Francisco Kaiser Internal Medicine Residency and for the combined Preventive Medicine-Internal Medicine Program.
