Welcome to our community
A Message from Andrea Rex
Assistant Dean, Student Services
I would like to offer a warm welcome to our newly admitted, recently enrolled, and returning students. The School of Public Health truly values its students, and we consider education of the next generation of public health professionals to be the cornerstone of our mission. I hear frequently—from members of the School, the UC Berkeley community, and beyond—how talented, intelligent, and committed our students are. I am consistently inspired by our students and want to support your education at the School of Public Health in every way possible.
I encourage you to take advantage of the many opportunities the School has to offer. The Office of Student Services and Admissions provides students with support and resources necessary to succeed at the School. Whether it is admissions information and application processing, fellowship management, course scheduling, academic progress support and advising, student group support, or planning for events such as the Public Health Conference for Prospective Students, Spring Visit Day, and Commencement—we exist to serve students and foster your success. Our staff is available to answer questions, provide advice, and respond to individual student needs and concerns.
To support your academic work, the School has many academic resources available, including Instructional Computing and the Sheldon Margen Public Health Library. To support your development as a professional and a leader, the Center for Public Health Practice (CPHP) provides a multitude of resources such as the Center for Multicultural Health, the Center for Health Leadership, the Health Careers Opportunity Program, career services, and internship services. Students benefit from the Center for Public Health Practice's deep connections with the vast network of public health professionals in the Bay Area.
I also invite you to connect with our student community by exploring the School's student groups, which offer public health students the opportunity to pursue specific and individual interests while building relationships with fellow classmates and gaining hands-on experience within the larger Bay Area community.
We are proud of our students, and it is our privilege to provide guidance and assistance to you as you pursue your academic, professional, and personal goals. Please let the Office of Student Services and Admissions know how we can make your time at the School of Public Health successful and rewarding.
