Hansen Lui, a first-year UC Berkeley-UCSF Joint Medical Program student, was part of the team that won the 2016 Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS) Mobile App Challenge, a semester-long competition for undergraduate and graduate students to develop mobile apps for social impact. Seventeen teams and more than 90 students competed in the challenge. The team won for their app, Sidekick, a photo food diary app that promotes an intuitive eating approach. The app helps users keep track of their food and drink consumption, while emphasizing holistic self-reflection of health over calorie counting and weight loss.
