Center for Public Health and the Media
The Center for Public Health and the Media focuses on how to better communicate the findings of health research and promote greater public awareness and knowledge of healthy living. By working with community groups, journalists, and public health professionals, the Center provides education and training on the power of the media to advance public policy by having news stories told from a public health perspective, emphasizing prevention and policy development that takes into account the social, cultural, economic, and political context of health problems as they impact individuals and communities. New courses will be developed for students along with an ongoing continuing education program for journalists and the media. This will be a collaborative undertaking with the School of Journalism
