August Deadlines

Sutter Health Administrative Fellowship Program
Master's-prepared candidates in health care administration or a related field can learn from excellent preceptors and gain hands-on, specialized administrative experience in acute care hospitals, medical groups/foundations and ambulatory care environments. Sutter Health's Administrative Fellowship Program is a twelve-month comprehensive program and typically selects up to three Fellows to participate in the program.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital David A. Gee Administrative Fellowship
The administrative fellowship program is a 2-year program at Barnes-Jewish Hospital provides meaningful opportunities to participate in, coordinate and manage projects of strategic importance to the organization. In addition, fellows enjoy personal access to executive leadership and enjoy visibility to organizational governance through attendance at board and senior level meetings.

Emory Healthcare (EHC) Administrative Fellowship Program
EHC's Administrative Fellowship is a two-year program that targets masters candidates and recent masters-level graduates in health care administration, business administration, public health, and nursing administration. Accepted candidates gain an in-depth understanding of hospital and clinic-based operations through various hands on projects and leadership activities. In addition, EHC fellows enjoy a direct reporting relationship to a member of the senior leadership team, have the opportunity to observe executive leadership at the highest level of the organization, and are compensated competitively within the market.

Johns Hopkins Medicine Administrative Fellowship
This administrative fellowship is a two-year rotation-based program that is guided by a steering committee of key leaders from throughout the health system. The steering committee members also serve as the program's preceptors for each of the rotations and are committed to creating a premiere learning opportunity designed to create future leaders at Johns Hopkins. One of the members of the committee serves as an advisor to the fellow for the entire two years. Eligible applicants are graduates of an accredited domestic health care management program (or MBA program with focus in health care administration).  Applicant must graduate prior to the start of the fellowship, July 2012.

Northwestern Memorial Hospital Postgraduate Administrative Fellowship
The Administrative Fellowship is a combination of institutionally structured rotations and Fellow-directed activities. The first year is spent rotating through core hospital operations, followed by an interim management role and self-directed project work. The operational rotations are designed to provide a combination of educational and experiential developmental opportunities.

The Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program was established to attract to the Federal service outstanding men and women from a variety of academic disciplines and career paths who have a clear interest in, and commitment to, excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs. By drawing graduate students from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, the PMF Program provides a continuing source of trained men and women to meet the future challenges of public service.

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Administrative Fellowship Program
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital's Administrative Fellowship Program offers graduates with master's degrees in healthcare and/or business administration practical experience in the operations of a large, urban-based academic medical center. One fellow is selected each year to participate in this 12-month program. While the fellowship program is based at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, the fellows will also have the opportunity to work on projects that affect the entire Jefferson Health System.

University of Alabama-Birmingham Health System Administrative Fellowship
The Administrative Fellowship program at the UAB Health System (UABHS) provides qualified individuals a comprehensive training experience in health care management to complement and enhance their foundations from their academic programs. University of Michigan Health System Administrative Fellowship Program
The two-year University of Michigan Health System Administrative Fellowship Program is designed to provide an exceptional foundation for a career in academic health center administration. The UMHS Fellowship offers unique opportunities to work closely with and learn from administrative and clinical leaders in a leading academic health system.

At the beginning of the fellowship, the fellow meets with the fellowship coordinators to discuss goals, interests and potential project work. The program structure includes core responsibilities and targeted 4-12 weeks rotations based on the fellow's interests and the institution's priorities. The fellow will pursue a variety of leadership development opportunities in a framework of continuous learning. The fellows work closely with senior level executives across the Health System who are committed to providing strong mentorship during and after the fellowship experience.

University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center Administrative Fellowship
The administrative fellowship offers an opportunity to learn about the organizational structure, philosophy, values, and mission of the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. M.D. Anderson has a fully integrated structure, including research, physician practice, and hospital and clinical operations. Project-based in nature, the fellowship enables the fellow and the designated preceptor to determine the appropriate project portfolio that ensures a learning environment and the ability to translate academic theory into practice. Since the fellows are here to learn and grow as healthcare professionals, the fellows will plan their goals and objectives for the year and will refine these goals throughout the year with their preceptor.

Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) Administrative Fellowship
CHW Fellowship offers prospective minority healthcare leaders the opportunity to gain both administrative and operational experience in the healthcare industry. This is a 12-month rotational program: six months at the CHW Corporate Office in San Francisco, California and six months at a CHW acute care facility. In order to qualify, candidates must be in their last year of the graduate program, pursuing an MHA, MPH, MS, MSN or MBA from an accredited institution.

City of Hope Administrative Fellowship Program
City of Hope National Medical Center (COHNMC) offers a unique opportunity for a qualified candidate interested in working at a highly respected, mission-based medical center and research facility. Because City of Hope provides advanced clinical care and conducts innovative clinical research in a relatively small setting, the fellow is able to work directly with the highest level of executives and become well prepared for careers in research and academic medicine.  This is a one year fellowship beginning in July 2012.

Henry Ford Health System Administrative Fellowship Program
The HFHS fellowship is a one-year appointment to one of four areas within HFHS: The Henry Ford Hospital, The Henry Ford Community Hospitals, The Henry Ford Medical Group, or Health Alliance Plan. Although you will be assigned to one area, you will have the opportunity to explore all four areas through project work and organizational meetings. An executive from the area you will be working for serves as your preceptor (mentor) for the year and works with you to establish and complete your fellowship goals. Additionally, guidance and direction are given from the fellowship director and the fellowship coordinator at a corporate level to ensure that your goals are being met.

Kaiser Permanente Postgraduate Administrative Fellowship Program
The Postgraduate Administrative Fellowship Program allows for broad exposure to the issues involved in managing a large, fully integrated, group model health plan.

Northern California offers a 12-month fellowship focused on health care operations with two six-month rotations at the medical center and service area.  In addition, there is an option for an additional corporate rotation in the regional offices at the end of the 12-month period.

Southern California offers a 24-month fellowship that includes three rotations: two at a medical center and/or service area, and one at the regional offices.  During the regional rotation, fellows have the opportunity to gain exposure to the various departments that support the operations of the Kaiser Foundation Hospitals/Health Plan and Permanente Medical Group.

Main Line Health Administrative Fellowship
The Administrative Fellowship will focus on dealing with issues relating to how a complex health care system functions. The Fellow will have a diverse, hands-on experience with the opportunity to experience areas such as corporate structure, capital finance, operations, and system-wide strategic planning. The Fellow will explore various project opportunities through rotations with Senior Executives and work with his/her preceptors in the selection of project work to align with the Fellow's objectives and the organization's needs. Projects will help the Fellow develop leadership, interpersonal communication, and decision-making skills. In addition to project work, the Fellow will attend Senior Management and Board meetings, which will aid in the understanding of a complex health care system. Preceptors include the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Vice President of Planning and Business Development.

The Administrative Fellowship is a combination of structured rotations and Fellow-directed activities.The first few months are spent rotating through core hospital operations, followed by self-directed project work.

Palomar Pomerado Health Administrative Fellowship
The Administrative Fellowship at Palomar Pomerado Health (PPH) is a one-year program designed to provide an opportunity to build valuable professional experience and relationships within PPH and the larger community as a whole. The fellowship program is coordinated under the direction of President and CEO Michael H. Covert, FACHE and includes a high degree of preceptor involvement from all members of the PPH Executive Management Team.

Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program
Each year, the Bosch Fellowship's nine-month work/study program enables 20 outstanding young American professionals to acquire an in-depth understanding of the political, economic and cultural environment of Germany and the European Union. From September through May, fellows complete two high-level internships—the first in federal or regional government institutions, and the second in private industry, mass media, or the non-profit sector. Fellows also participate in three intensive seminars with high-ranking government officials, as well as leading representatives from industry, media and academia, taking place in Berlin, Munich, Paris, Prague, Brussels, and other European cities.

UC Davis Medical Center Administrative Fellowship
The UC Davis Medical Center Administrative Fellowship program is a one-year or two-year program (second year negotiable) with a hospital operations focus achieved by reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of the administrative team. The fellow will receive experience in all aspects of management in an academic medical center environment and is exposed to all levels of operation within the organization. The structure of the fellowship is flexible and allows the fellow to tailor experiences and projects around specific interests in accordance with the needs of the organization. Such projects may include business development, human resources, information technology, finance, quality and facilities planning. In addition to gaining experience in administration, the fellow receives extensive leadership training provided by the CEO acting as preceptor and other members of the senior management team.

The UCLA Administrative Fellowship
The UCLA Administrative Fellowship is a challenging and rewarding twelve-month program designed to provide qualified young leaders with hospital management and administration training in all aspects of an academic medical center. As a Fellow, you will attend regular meetings with senior leaders and project sponsors, attend various executive leadership meetings throughout the organization, and be involved in an array of enterprise-wide projects and initiatives. The Fellowship is project-based and action-oriented. You will be encouraged to learn about all aspects of health care delivery. With our flexible structure, you can tailor your experiences around specific areas of interest in addition to the needs of the organization. One fellow is chosen each cycle.

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Administrative Fellowship Program
The Administrative Fellowship Program at UPMC is a two-year program designed to provide fellows with practical experience in health care management. Fellows participate in either the Physicians Practice Fellowship Track, or the Hospital Fellowship track. The hospital fellowship track provides exposure to all aspects of hospital operations and management and is ideal for those who wish to pursue a career in hospital administration. The physician practice fellowship track provides exposure to all aspects of physician practice management and is ideal for those wish to pursue a career in physician practice management and/or academic medical management.

Albert Schweitzer Fellowship
The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship selects and sends up to two Public Health Fellows to serve at the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambaréné, Gabon, helping the Hospital strengthen and expand public health aspects of its work. Public Health Fellows work with the Hospital’s staff, including the Community Health Outreach Program, which provides village-based health care. Public Health Fellows may work on issues of maternal/child health, HIV/AIDS education and prevention, TB education and follow-up, and malaria prevention and treatment.  Involvement in one or more outreach projects of the Hospital’s world-renowned Medical Research Unit (www.lambarene.org) may be possible.

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Administrative Fellowship
The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Administrative Fellowship is a one-year program designed to provide high potential individuals with the opportunity to
further develop their leadership style and analytical skills and to gain expertise in such areas as research and clinical care integration, performance improvement, strategic planning, and clinical network development. The Fellowship will begin with a two-month rotation and shadow experience with senior leaders throughout DFCI. After the rotation and for the duration of the Fellowship, the Fellow will lead and participate in high visibility projects based upon individual interests and the Institute's needs.

Deland Fellowship in Health Care and Society
Deland fellows work with senior faculty and staff at Brigham and Women's Hospital. This one-year program is based at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a world leader in patient care, medical education and research, and a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. Through project-based learning guided by senior management, Deland fellows focus on effective ways to bridge the worlds of medicine and administrative management. Fellows pursing administrative roles gain understanding of the clinical aspects of healthcare; and clinician fellows explore the principles of management, operations and finance.

Unlike other administrative residencies and fellowships, the Deland Fellowship is very flexible and therefore is well suited to mid-career applicants who may have had experiences in other fields.

Harvard University School of Public Health Yerby Postdoctoral Fellowship
Named for Dr. Alonzo Smythe Yerby, an African-American pioneer in public health, this initiative is geared toward expanding the diversity of those entering academic public health. The Yerby Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is designed as a bridge between academic training in health-related disciplines and entry-level faculty positions in public health, and is one of many avenues to postdoctoral training at the Harvard School of Public Health. The Program engages fellows in exceptional professional development opportunities under the tutelage and guidance of experienced faculty members within the School. The Fellowship Program enhances presentation skills, and a strong emphasis is placed on the development of research and teaching.

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships
The National Science Foundation aims to ensure the vitality of the human resource base of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in the United States and to reinforce its diversity by offering approximately 1,000 graduate fellowships in this competition. The Graduate Research Fellowship provides three years of support for graduate study leading to research-based master's or doctoral degrees and is intended for students who are at the early stages of their graduate study. The Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) invests in graduate education for a cadre of diverse individuals who demonstrate their potential to successfully complete graduate degree programs in disciplines relevant to the mission of the National Science Foundation.

AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships
The American Association for the Advancement of Science manages and administers Science & Technology Policy Fellowships in five program areas to provide the opportunity for accomplished scientists and engineers to participate in and contribute to the federal policymaking process while learning firsthand about the intersection of science and policy. The fellowships in congressional offices are funded by approximately 30 partner scientific and engineering societies. The fellowships in executive branch agencies are funded by the hosting offices. Five areas: Congressional; Diplomacy, Security & Development; Energy, Environment & Agriculture; Health, Education & Human Services; and Global Stewardship. Applicants must have a PhD or an equivalent doctoral-level degree at the time of application.

International Development Fellows Program (IDFP)
The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) International Development Fellows Program is intended to give people who are interested in a career in international relief and development an opportunity to increase their overseas experience and gain broad exposure to CRS programs. Each year, CRS has approximately 20 placements with our country programs (based overseas). Assignments are for one year.

Kellogg Health Scholars Program (KHSP)
The Kellogg Health Scholars Program develops new leadership in the effort to reduce and eliminate health disparities and to secure equal access to the conditions and services essential for achieving healthy communities. The program consists of two tracks and offers two-year postdoctoral fellowships at eight training sites. The Community track highlights community-based participatory research (CBPR), and relationships between academic health disparities research, public health practices in communities, and policy development. The Multidisciplinary track highlights a multidisciplinary approach to studying the determinants of health inequalities and inequities. Both tracks highlight the translation of health research into policy findings and recommendations.

TAPS Fellowship
The Traineeships in AIDS Prevention Studies (TAPS) Program is inviting applications for two- and three-year postdoctoral fellowships in studies relating to the prevention of AIDS. Offered through the UCSF Department of Medicine, TAPS is located at the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS), which is itself part of the Division of General Internal Medicine of the Department of Medicine. As part of the UCSF AIDS Research Institute (ARI), CAPS represents a unique collaboration between university, government, community-based and private local agencies

Wisconsin Population Health Fellowship Program
The Wisconsin Population Health Fellowship Program is a two-year service and training program designed for masters prepared individuals, in public health and allied sciences. Candidates with doctoral degrees may also apply. The two-year program provides applicants with practical field assignments in community based nonprofit, governmental or health service organizations. The goal of the Fellowship Program is to develop the next generation of public health practitioners skilled in planning, implementing, and evaluating public health programs.
