john troidlGREETINGS to Our Alumni

A Message from Lucinda Brannon Bazile, M.P.H. '94
President, Public Health Alumni Association

I am so excited to serve as your president this year!

Despite these difficult economic times, I continue to count my blessings. One of my blessings is to be able to give back to the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. I think we should all be thankful for our experience as graduate and undergraduate students and find a way to contribute back. We have several ways to do this: Contribute to the Annual Fund; attend a PHAA sponsored event; advocate on behalf of the School and/or donate your time.

As you may know, although the School is a public university, the School is barely supported by state funds and that contribution is now at 12% and decreasing each year. Thus, making your annual contribution is crucial!

The School is doing tremendous work in all areas of public health, from global health to health policy and management. Of course, that work would not be possible without our talents as leaders, which were developed at the School.

I hope you count your blessings and find a way to connect with an old classmate, your favorite professor, or a new colleague at our annual spring fundraiser in May. This is a great way to reconnect and make this one of your ways of contributing back this year.

Any way you choose to contribute this year, large or small, we appreciate every amount and every effort.

Onward and upward!
